Myth

The Lafayette Connector will run through the heart of Lafayette and negatively affect businesses and communities that have been around for decades.

Fact!

After multiple evaluations, the Connector’s current path was deemed to be the best suited to minimize potential environmental impacts and fulfill transportation objectives. Further, a Federal Court found that the project did not violate the Department of Transportation Act, the National Environmental Protection Act, and the National Historic Preservation Act.

Myth

The Tech Ridge Concept would be a more acceptable alternative.

Fact!

The Tech Ridge proposal would not address the ever-increasing congestion that is slowing down regional mobility. Additionally, the project would pose significant environmental threats to the Acadian landscape and its wetlands.

Myth

The Connector would negatively affect the Chicot Aquifer.

Fact!

Quite the opposite, the Connector would be able to assess the contamination along the Evangeline Thruway Corridor and use the project itself as a means of remediation.

Myth

This project has been stalled for years and hasn’t moved, we shouldn’t expect anything different.

Fact!

A number of businesses and organizations are working to get started on the Connector, as well as state and local leaders. Soon the Connector will become a reality!

Myth

This project will leave abandoned the urban areas around Lafayette.

Fact!

Our urban areas will be revitalized by offering opportunities to reconnect communities, resurrect blighted properties, and reduce congestion while building safe, walkable urban neighborhoods and expanding access to jobs, healthcare, education and economic opportunities.
